The natural foundation for sensitive skin
I always had trouble finding a foundation that worked for me; so, even though I had looked into natural foundations for a while, I was reluctant to actually try one. While I have fairly normal skin – not too oily nor too dry (though I can thank the awesome Jacqueline Evans Jojoba & Carmellia Balancing Cream I'm currently using for this!) – I still found it difficult to find a natural foundation. I suffer from hormone-related acne that I am able to minimise with my skincare routine, but most commercial makeup brands would make me break out straight away, ruining all my hard work! I also have incredibly pale skin, as well as acne scarring from my teenage years. When I came across the Ere Perez Oat Milk Foundation, I was excited because it sounded like everything I had been looking for – medium coverage, no nasty additives, perfect for problem skin... I was sold.
COLOUR
I ordered the 'Light' shade, which is for the fairest skins. Usually, even the lightest shade of foundation is still too dark for me, or has a weird orange tone (why do they always make it orange?), but this one was a surprisingly good match. I think I like it so much because the undertones are actually suited to someone with pale skin.
TEXTURE
The texture of this organic foundation is different to most liquid foundations. It dries very quickly, so it might take a couple of applications before you get the look you want.
INGREDIENTS
A uniquely gentle, non-oily formula
The oat milk is one of the reasons I was excited to try this. As I mentioned earlier, I usually have some pimples and I liked that the oat milk would help to soothe and minimise these. It doesn't irritate my spot at all (unlike other make-up I have used) and really does help to soothe my skin.
HOW TO APPLY FOUNDATION
I like to apply the foundation with my hands and then blend it in with a make-up sponge. I find it works best straight after applying my moisturiser or primer, as this helps the foundation to spread evenly. A trick that I use for daily make-up wear (and it works great with this natural foundation) is adding some face serum to the foundation before applying. I will apply the required amount to my hand (one or two pumps) and then add two drops of the face serum I use at night, Nilly + Booth Hazelnut Black Seed Organic Face Serum. I mix these together and then apply to my face as normal. This results in a more natural look and makes my skin glow (also you get the benefit of your face serum during the day). You can read more about face serums here.
WEAR
This foundation will last throughout the day for regular activities. If you are sweating heavily or swimming and want your make-up to last, then I recommend using a more heavy-duty foundation. I actually like that this foundation is easily removed with gentle cleansing, which makes it a perfect 'everyday wear' foundation.
CONCLUSION
This is a great everyday foundation if you have normal to oily skin. I wouldn't recommend it if you have very dry or flaky skin, as it may accentuate those areas. It's great for people who havesensitive skin as the ingredients will soothe your skin and are less likely to cause irritation than regular makeup brands. The only con for me is that it doesn't contain an SPF; so, if I'm going to be outdoors at all, I need to use a moisturiser that provides protection from the sun.
