This could sound scary, even inappropriate, but you can give your dog cannabis. Yes, you heard it right. But not just any form of marijuana and all of its compounds — it’s the CBD that is used for treating many animal and human health issues. Cannabidiol, or commonly known as CBD, is one of 133 cannabinoids inside the cannabis plant, with a large number of medicinal properties. It is most often derived from hemp, a male marijuana plant, which is legal to cultivate and own in almost every corner of the world. Scientists and vets have noticed that dogs have an endocannabinoid system very much resembling to our (human). That means that this specific cannabis chemical binds to the same receptors as on humans and has a similar, healing effects on our pups. Unlike THC which makes people feel high and is even toxic for dogs, CBD is completely safe in all dosages. The only trick to it being super effective is to get the dosage right, which can take a bit of trial and error but poses no risk to your dog whatsoever.
